Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges #30

Hello and welcome I am Karen Farquhar from Australia and thank you for joining me today for the Inspire.Create Stamping Challenge #030.
Challenge #030 is a Theme Challenge: Thankful

Even though I live in Australia and we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here as our American friends do I feel so very privileged to call this beautiful country my home.
I am so thankful for my family, my wonderful friends, my freedom, to be able to live in peace and fortunate to have a roof over my head and food on the table. Simple things denied of many other people in our country and world wide.
I truely have been blessed and feel very grateful in deed.
For this fortnight's challenge I have created a Thank you card with a country feel.

I have stamped the milk can and flowers from the Country Home Stamp Set and set it against a Night of Navy Buffalo Check Background Stamp.

What more could say thank you than a box of home baked White Chocolate and Cranberry cookies.
I have inked up my Buffalo Check Background Stamp again then cut the stamped image into strips. I have then used my Envelope Punch Board to create a bow for my Baker's Box.

GlobalDesign Project #GDP151 Theme Take Me To The Sea.

Hello and welcome. This weeks Global Design Project challenge has the theme 'Take Me To The Sea'. I don't think the GDP team quiet had a card like mine in mind when they suggested this challenge. My son's and grandson's birthdays fall a week apart and last year I created a shark themed card for my son who is a keen surfer.  However my 8 year old grandson, Darcy was a bit disappointed he didn't get a shark card also. So as his 9th birthday is in another couple of weeks I have made a shark card for him this year.

The front of the card is a pretty basic card, the type of boys card Nana would give you.

But when he opens the card I hope he is surprised to find Jaws hiding inside ready to bite.

Unable to find a template for the card design nor the shark I have had to make my own and hand cut the shark.

I have also added a shark gift tag to coordinate with the card.

Thank you for visiting me today. I hope you find inspiration from my projects. For even more inspiration using this theme pop on over to the Global Design Project page here

Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges Theme: Sunshine Challenge #018

Hello and welcome. You are currently visiting Karen Farquhar from Australia for Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges #018 and todays challenge has the theme 'Sunshine'.

Considering that in the past few days we are just experiencing the first blasts of freezing winds and showers of the colder months of the year this really was a challenge for me. I took myself back to the summers of my childhood sitting on the back steps of our then family home with my sister surrounded by a full view of Lake Illawarra and the mountains to the west. Both of us eating watermelon and seeing how far we could spit the seeds. Disgusting I know but we were kids.
So I thought of those watermelon days and designed my card around those days.

My watermelon was made using the Rainbow Builder Framelits dies from the Occasions Catalogue. I cut the half circles first then gave them a watercolour wash for a soft effect. I have also made some gift tags using the same theme depicting some summery sunshine images.

Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP137

Hello and welcome. What a gorgeous colour challenge for Global Design Project #GDP137. Such a pretty combination.

Today is Mother's Day in Australia so I have created a Mother's Day card for my GDP submission. I thought the stamp set 'Flying Home' was so very appropriate with the mother bird feeding her three little chicks. I have 2 sisters and my mother is still always trying to feed us even though we are grown women with grown families of our own.

I have been meaning to try the Embossing Paste for a while now but have been putting it in the too hard box. Silly me though it is as simple to use as spreading butter on a slice of bread but with a more stunning effect and less calories. For my projects I have used the Shimmery White Paste but it also comes in plain white and silver.
I have heat embossed my birdies onto Shimmery White Cardstock, water coloured them for a soft effect, then fussy cut the image and attached it to Whisper White Cardstock.

Every Mother's Day I make a small gift for the mother's in my family. This year I have made some little gift boxes containing a scented candle using the colours from the challenge.

The stamp set I have used is the soon to retire 'Floral Phrases' set. You can find the instructions for these little gift boxes here at Flutter By Heidi. Thank you Heidi for sharing.

And a big thank you to you for visiting me today.
