Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges Theme: Sunshine Challenge #018

Hello and welcome. You are currently visiting Karen Farquhar from Australia for Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges #018 and todays challenge has the theme 'Sunshine'.

Considering that in the past few days we are just experiencing the first blasts of freezing winds and showers of the colder months of the year this really was a challenge for me. I took myself back to the summers of my childhood sitting on the back steps of our then family home with my sister surrounded by a full view of Lake Illawarra and the mountains to the west. Both of us eating watermelon and seeing how far we could spit the seeds. Disgusting I know but we were kids.
So I thought of those watermelon days and designed my card around those days.

My watermelon was made using the Rainbow Builder Framelits dies from the Occasions Catalogue. I cut the half circles first then gave them a watercolour wash for a soft effect. I have also made some gift tags using the same theme depicting some summery sunshine images.

Global Design Project Colour Challenge #GDP137

Hello and welcome. What a gorgeous colour challenge for Global Design Project #GDP137. Such a pretty combination.

Today is Mother's Day in Australia so I have created a Mother's Day card for my GDP submission. I thought the stamp set 'Flying Home' was so very appropriate with the mother bird feeding her three little chicks. I have 2 sisters and my mother is still always trying to feed us even though we are grown women with grown families of our own.

I have been meaning to try the Embossing Paste for a while now but have been putting it in the too hard box. Silly me though it is as simple to use as spreading butter on a slice of bread but with a more stunning effect and less calories. For my projects I have used the Shimmery White Paste but it also comes in plain white and silver.
I have heat embossed my birdies onto Shimmery White Cardstock, water coloured them for a soft effect, then fussy cut the image and attached it to Whisper White Cardstock.

Every Mother's Day I make a small gift for the mother's in my family. This year I have made some little gift boxes containing a scented candle using the colours from the challenge.

The stamp set I have used is the soon to retire 'Floral Phrases' set. You can find the instructions for these little gift boxes here at Flutter By Heidi. Thank you Heidi for sharing.

And a big thank you to you for visiting me today.

Inspire.Create. Stampin Challenges

Hello and welcome! Inspire.Create.Challenges #013 is a colour challenge. The colours for the challenge being Basic Grey, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist. It just so happens that these colours are part of the colour palette in our gorgeous FREE Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper named Bubble and Fizz. So it was a no brainer for me to use this paper for the challenge.
Coordinating with this designer series paper is the Bubble Over Bundle from the Stampin' Up! 2018 Occasions catalogue.
I always struggle to find a not so serious stamp set to use for masculine cards but I think this bundle is a seriously fun set.

My first project is a card with the bottles of drink popping their caps to allow bubbles to escape giving a feeling of festivity and celebration.

I have also made some cute coordinating gift tags with the same bundle as a little extra.

Another project a fun fold novelty gift card which unfolds to show lots of rising bubbles exploding on the inside of the card. With those tiny beads of condensation dripping down the side of the bottle a cold drink is certainly enticing on a day were our expected forecast is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Phew bring on Autumn.

Thank you for dropping by today. Now pay a visit on to the Inspire.Create.Challenges website for more cool projects.
Look after yourself and happy crafting.
