Global Design Project #GDP152

The Global Design Project for this week is CASE the very talented designer Janneke De Jong from the Netherlands.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

The idea to CASE a project is to take something you like from the design and make it your own. It could be the stamp set - the colours, the layout, the theme, the images - whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own. Well I really loved Janneke's card- the colours and the layout. However with Father's Day in Australia next Sunday I needed to make some masculine cards so I have used Janneke's layout for my Father's card.

I think the colour combinations in the Best Route Designer Series Papers are so lovely and bright but still have a masculine feel to them, a step away from the drab colours usually chosen for male cards. For my card instead of using the pretty Stitched Labels Framelit die and flowers Janneke chose for her design I have framed my sentiment with die cut squares from the Layering Squares Framelits

Usually I give my sons and son-in-law gift vouchers for Father's Day so still using the Best Route DSP and the same stamp sets I have made them gift card holders which I also CASEd, from Sherry Roth of Stamping Treasures. You will find her instructions for making them here

Inspire.Create Stampin Challenges - Challenge #025 Colour Challenge

Hello and welcome. You are currently visiting Karen Farquhar from Australia for the Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges. For challenge #025 we have a colour challenge the pretty colour combination of Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Lemon Lime Twist.

I felt these bright, beautiful colours had a tropical feel so I have chosen to use the stamp set and thinlits bundle Tropical Chic for my projects today.
With the cold weather still hanging around I can only dream of a beautiful tropical resort with drinks being served while I lie soaking up the warm sun by the pool. My niece actually owns a resort in Sir Lanka and has offered us an open invitation, so maybe one day.

For today's projects I have made 2 thank you cards and a gift box.

You may notice the subtle differences in the card samples above and the little gift box. Firstly I have used sponging to give a blended effect to the hibiscus flowers and leaves where as the flowers and leaf on the box below were stamped. Also there are two types of dies in the set. The above cards have had their leaves diecut to the outline of the stamped image whereas the flowers and leaf on the box were diecut leaving a border around the stamped image.

With my stamps and dies still on my craft table I thought I would create a Scrapbook page in my feeble attempt to do some catching up with my Grandchildren's albums.

This set is so versatile I can also see a few more Scrapbook pages begging to be made.

Thank you for visiting me today. Please you are more than welcome to enter your projects for the Inspire.Create Stamping Challenges. We really would love to see your creations. Also pop over here for a visit to see the projects of other talented stampers.

GlobalDesign Project #GDP151 Theme Take Me To The Sea.

Hello and welcome. This weeks Global Design Project challenge has the theme 'Take Me To The Sea'. I don't think the GDP team quiet had a card like mine in mind when they suggested this challenge. My son's and grandson's birthdays fall a week apart and last year I created a shark themed card for my son who is a keen surfer.  However my 8 year old grandson, Darcy was a bit disappointed he didn't get a shark card also. So as his 9th birthday is in another couple of weeks I have made a shark card for him this year.

The front of the card is a pretty basic card, the type of boys card Nana would give you.

But when he opens the card I hope he is surprised to find Jaws hiding inside ready to bite.

Unable to find a template for the card design nor the shark I have had to make my own and hand cut the shark.

I have also added a shark gift tag to coordinate with the card.

Thank you for visiting me today. I hope you find inspiration from my projects. For even more inspiration using this theme pop on over to the Global Design Project page here

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop

Hello I am Karen Farquhar and welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. Well ooooh it's sneak peak time. How exciting! Next month Stampin' Up release their 2018 Holiday Catalogue and of course it goes without saying that it is jammed pack with more gorgeous products. Whether you celebrate the holidays or not you are sure to fall in love with something on offer from this catalogue.

My first purchase from the new Holiday catalogue is a little stamp set that probably most people would overlook the Wishing You Well stamp set. It was the pretty tulle bow stamp that caught my eye so I have created 3 cards using this set. The stamp set belongs to Stampin' Ups! Distinktive stamps range. Distinktive stamps are designed to create different opacities in a single stamped image for more realistic depth and intensity.

The floral paper I have used is the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Frosted Floral Suite. What a gorgeous suite this one is. I have teamed it with 2 of the colours in the paper print Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss.

Thank you for visiting me. I hope the projects you've seen here today have inspired you & brightened your day. Please feel free to hop through all of the stampers on the list below to see all the projects. You won't want to miss any!

Global Design Project #GDP150 Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome. Global Design Projects #GDP150 is a sketch challenge.

With this sketch I thought for the background panels I would have a play around with a combination of Stampin' Up! textured embossing folders. I chose Seaside, Petal Burst and Woodland to give the card a natural but tropical theme.

The stamp set Tropical Chic is part of the Tropical Escape Suite which includes coordinating Thinlits, lush foliage designer series paper and natural wooden tropical elements. The multiple sentiments in this stamp set makes this suite a winner for me.

I would like to say thank you to those visiting me today. I hope you find inspiration from my project. All of the products I have used today are available in our 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue. Just click on the thumbnails below to take you straight to my online store. Happy shopping.
