Global Design Project #GDP101 Colour Challenge

It is colour challenge time again for the Global Design Project and the colours for #GDP101 are Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay and Flirty Flamingo chosen by guest presenter Maike Ulbrich Beimler. Each colour challenge week the GDP team select a guest designer for the next colour challenge and Maike was chosen for this week's challenge. Congratulations Maike.

September in Australia means the beginning of Spring, Father's Day and in our family it also means lots of Birthdays. I love the personal touch of giving a handmade card for Birthdays and special occasions and my family and friends have come to expect them, feeling a little neglected if I haven't taken the time to make their own personal card. So I thought I would get a head start on my birthday card making and create a Birthday card for the colour challenge this week.

I have used the Sweet Cupcake Stamp Set along with it's coordinating Cupcake Cutouts Framelits Dies. I wanted to give the cupcake a 3D creamy top so I die cut the cupcake top in whisper white cardstock then using a palette knife I 'iced' the cardstock with embossing paste. I inked up the stamp with the most swirls on it with Flirty Flamingo ink and stamped on top of the wet paste. I then sprinkled the paste with Dazzling Diamonds and set the cupcake top aside to dry. If you try this make sure you clean all the paste off you stamp right away as the paste dries quite quickly.
As I wanted to keep the card soft I only used Night of Navy for the greeting using Bermuda Bay and Flirty Flamingo for the remainder of the card. I loved the effect the new background stamp called Marbled gave the card. A similar result as the shaving cream technique without the mess. Yay!

Rather than a gift I often enclose a gift voucher or some money with their card so I have made a coordinating gift bag with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die to hold some Bali money as the recipient will be holidaying in Bali in a few weeks time.

I love the cute little shopping trolley stamp if gives a little hint of what might be inside the gift bag.

I thought this colour combination was so lovely I have also used it to 'pretty up' this month's Hostess gifts.
